Menus
Tapping the Star Rangers icon and loading the game will bring up the Star Rangers Main Menu. These buttons enable you to do the following:
- Launch a new mission (start a new game)
- Resume a Saved Mission to continue the previous game
- Access the Open Feint service (you must have an Internet connection available)
- Access the Database to see your personal high scores. These are saved directly on your device. (Note that deleting Star Rangers will remove the Database records from your device.)
- View your Medals (see below)
- Access the Help files, including a brief tutorial on getting started with Star Rangers. We highly recommend reading it through before you play. These files are stored locally on your device.
Note: You cannot save a game of Star Rangers except to continue the most recently played game. You cannot save a game halfway through a mission, get destroyed, and then re-load it at the “saved” point to replay the latter half of the game. You have to play the entire mission over again.
We designed the Star Rangers playing experience to give players incentive to make it through a single game without being destroyed. We went to great effort to enable you to play all the way through a mission with no breaks, gaps or additional game loading times. Fitting all the graphics, sound effects, music and code into the iPhone/iPod memory so you can play a mission with no involuntary pausing was no easy task!
Options
- Left- and Right-Handed Selection – Since Star Rangers makes use of various touch controls, you can choose which screen layout you prefer. Default is right-handed.
- Accelerometer Sensitivity – This selects how little or how much tilting of your device is needed to steer your Starfighter. The default setting should be fine for normal play, but you can adjust it to suit your individual style (leisurely or frantic!)
- Sounds – This activates sound effects during game play. If you want to listen to your own music during the game (via your iPod/iPhone’s background play ability), you can turn the game sounds off.
- Music – Turning this off will mute the music at the beginning and end of a game, as well as the Menu background score.
- Invert Y Axis – Reverses the pitch of your Starfighter. Turning this on will change which direction your ship moves vertically when you tilt your device up and down.
- Version – Which version of Star Rangers you are currently running.
